Rarest is a free trivia game for people who enjoy Krillion and want more rounds. Each prompt asks you to name something, like a country in Africa, a Queen song or a bone in the human body. Any correct answer counts, but the fewer people who would think of it, the more points it earns. Play the daily round, then keep going in Unlimited mode for as long as you like. There is no sign-up and no download, and it works in the browser on your phone or computer.
What is Krillion Unlimited?
Krillion is a daily game built on one simple idea: obvious answers are worth little and rare correct answers are worth a lot. Once the daily puzzle is done, a lot of players look for "Krillion unlimited", meaning more prompts right away instead of waiting until tomorrow.
Rarest is our own independent take on that style of game. Every prompt, answer list and scoring tier was written from scratch for Rarest. It has a daily round that is the same for everyone, plus an Unlimited mode that deals a fresh set of prompts every time you press Play again. If you came here looking for Krillion unlimited, this is the game to play when you want one more round.
How to play Rarest
- Read the prompt. Every prompt starts with "Name a…", for example "Name a breed of dog" or "Name a moon in the Solar System".
- Type one answer and press Enter. You have 25 seconds per prompt. A timer bar shows how much time is left.
- Wrong answers cost nothing. If your answer isn't on the list, the box shakes and you can try again before time runs out.
- See how rare it was. A correct answer is ranked in one of six tiers and your balloon climbs. After each prompt you see the answers most people give and three of the rarest correct ones.
- Finish the round. A round has 7 prompts. Your flight log shows every answer, your total out of 700 and your personal best.
Scoring tiers
| Tier | What it means | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Runway | Everyone said it | 5 |
| Rooftops | Popular | 10 |
| Cloud Line | Solid | 20 |
| Jet Stream | Uncommon | 35 |
| Stratosphere | Rare | 60 |
| Orbit | Legendary | 100 |
A prompt you don't answer in time scores 0 (Grounded). The best possible round is 700: seven Orbit answers in a row.
Game modes
Rarest has three ways to play. Two of them give you Krillion unlimited play.
- Daily: everyone gets the same 7 prompts each UTC day, mixed across all categories. It's the fairest way to compare scores with friends.
- Unlimited: new prompts every time, as many rounds as you want. This is the Krillion unlimited experience: no waiting and no limit.
- Single category: choose one topic and play only that, in daily or unlimited mode.
Eight categories, 400 prompts
Rarest has 50 prompts in each of eight categories, with about 46,000 accepted answers in total:
- Geography: countries, capitals, rivers, US states, islands and more
- Animals: dog breeds, birds of prey, sharks, venomous animals, insects
- Food & Drink: cheeses, pasta shapes, cocktails, fruits, dumplings
- Sports: Olympic sports, Premier League clubs, Grand Slam winners, F1 champions
- Movies & TV: Pixar films, Best Picture winners, sitcoms, villains
- Music: composers, rock bands, Beatles songs, instruments, genres
- Science: chemical elements, bones, constellations, dinosaurs, minerals
- History: emperors, battles, presidents, ancient civilizations, explorers
The answer lists are as complete as we could make them. Closed sets like the 54 countries of Africa or the 50 US states include every member, so even the most obscure correct answer gets counted.
Tips for finding the rarest answer
- Skip your first thought. If an answer came to you instantly, it probably came to everyone else too. The first answer that comes to mind is usually a Runway answer.
- Think in regions and eras. For "Name a composer", go past the famous Viennese names to Baroque Italy, Czech romantics or modern film scores.
- Use what you know best. Your hobbies are worth a lot of points. A birder knows the merlin and the kestrel, and a cricket fan knows silly mid-off.
- Bank a safe answer when time is short. A common answer still beats no answer. If the timer is under five seconds, take the points.
- Spelling is forgiving. Small typos, missing accents and plurals are accepted. If a misspelling is equally close to two different answers, the game asks you to try again instead of guessing.
- No repeats in a round. An answer you already used in the same round is refused, so save your favourites.
- Learn from the reveal. The rare answers shown after each prompt are a good way to build up knowledge for next time.
Why play Rarest instead of waiting for tomorrow?
- Unlimited rounds: play Krillion unlimited style, as many rounds as you want.
- Fast: the game is one small page with no accounts, pop-ups or video ads between rounds.
- Fair, fixed lists: answers are checked against curated lists, so the same answer always gets the same score.
- Works anywhere: phone, tablet or desktop, with keyboard or touch.
- Share your round: copy a spoiler-free result made of coloured squares and compare scores without giving the answers away.
